Coligny Beach - Rated one of the top beaches in the USA, Coligny Beach is the most popular beach on Hilton Head Island. Located at Pope Avenue and South Forest Beach Drive, Coligny Beach is the perfect spot to lounge on the sands, swim, and rent bikes and Hobie Cats. Coligny Beach offers volleyball nets, water fountains, changing stations, splash pad for the kids, sand showers, lifeguards, umbrellas and free beach parking. Driessen Beach Park - Dreissen Beach is a sandy retreat accessed by a long boardwalk. This peaceful Hilton Head Beach features sand showers, lifeguards, restrooms, vending machines, a playground, picnic tables, grills, plenty of metered parking and a nearby grill. The beach also offers seasonal beach rentals, including umbrellas and water craft.
Folly Field Beach Park - Located on Starfish Road, Folly Field Beach is beautiful family beach and a favorite spot for surfers. This Hilton Head Island public beach is also a great place for swimming, boogie boarding and playing in the waves. The beach offers lifeguards, water fountains, restrooms, sand showers, and 52 parking spaces that take quarters.
Islander's Beach Club - This Hilton Head beach a true local's hangout on the north end of the island. Islander's Beach Club offers restrooms, changing rooms, a playground, drink machine, sand showers and some picnic tables. Parking here is available only with annual permits, so if you are visiting you may want to hop on your bike to reach the soft sands.
Sea Pines Beach Club - Located within the Sea Pines plantation on the Atlantic ocean, this beautiful beach offers great amenities, such as lifeguards, food service, a bar, picnic tables, showers, entertainment and seasonal activities for children. Parking is available to anyone staying in Sea Pines.
Palmetto Dunes Beach - Located near the Marriott Beach and Golf Resort, this lovely sand beach is accessible to guests staying in the Palmetto Dunes plantation and can be enjoyed by hotel guests. Sit at the pleasant ocean front bar and soak up the awesome beach vibe.
Alder Lane - The southernmost beach on Hilton Head Island, a few yards from Marriott Grand Ocean Resort, Alder Lane is a stunning expanse of sandy beach that is low-key and a perfect retreat for swimming and strolling the pristine shoreline. The beach is an easy bike ride from south end communities, and offers stocked vending machines, restrooms and hourly parking in a lot directly across the street.
Burke's Beach -Located near Chaplin Community Park, this peaceful Hilton Head Island beach is a tranquil escape from the crowds. Burke's Beach has seasonal lifeguards and very limited parking. Burke's Beach Is known by the locals to have the best waves for surfing and boarding on the Island.
General Beach Information for Hilton Head Island Animal Regulations
April - May: Animals must be on a leash between 10 am and 5pm
The Friday before Memorial Day until the Monday of Labor Day weekend - no animals allowed on the beach between 10 am and 5pm.
Tuesday after Labor Day - Animals must be on a leash from 10 am till 5pm
October thru March - No leashes required at any time.
Animals at all times are required to be under positive voice control.
On the beach or not, local law requires owners to clean up after their pets.
Seasonal Beach Rules from April thru September
No stunt kites between 10 am and 6 pm
No sand-sailing between 10 am and 6 pm
No fishing or surf casting in designated swimming areas
No surfboards, boogie boards or other articles to ride the surf in designated swimming areas
No games with metal components (such as metal horseshoes) in designated swimming areas
Prohibited at Hilton Head Island Beaches All Year Long
