The 18th Annual Gullah Celebration

A yearly tradition in the Hilton Head Island community, this cultural event draws crowds from far beyond the South Carolina coast. Experience a vibrant way of life while you visit, from palate-pleasing ethnic cuisine to art, gospel, music, crafts, and so much more. The little ones will love the interactive activities, while adults can appreciate the soulful local flare.

Our properties are within easy reach of all the events and exhibitions from January 31 through February 23. As you plan your trip to Hilton Head, this is a great opportunity to plan your visit to popular local venues and area attractions. The Opening Reception will kick off the celebrations at the Walter Greer Gallery at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina ($15 per person).
On February 1, guests are invited to attend Taste of Gullah at the Art Center of Coastal Carolina ($12 per plate). This is the place to tantalize your taste buds with new flavor combinations and authentic Gullah recipes. Also on February 1, the Walter Greer Gallery will launch the free exhibit, Arts Ob We People XVII - Annual Art Exhibit and Sale. Wander the gallery to see comprehensive displays, paintings, and much more.

For traditional concerts and praise, spiritual celebrations will commence at First African Baptist Church, St. James Baptist Church, and Zion Missionary Church. As a nod to the community's rich roots, the Marsh Tacky Horse Exhibition featuring The Black Cowboy will close out the special occasion on February 23 at 231 Beach City Road. Expect fun for the whole family combining horses and history. To learn more about all the events coming to Hilton Head Island - including variety shows and Valentine's Day music - visit
