Family Fun on Hilton Head Island!

A great way to prepare for the indulgences of Thanksgiving dinner is to participate in the 26th Turkey Trot on Hilton Head Island on November 27, 2014. Featuring a 5K run, a 10K run, and a 2-mile fun walk, the annual event is being presented by Go Tri Sports. The two races get underway at 8:00 a.m. in the Chart House parking lot on Squire Pope Road. The course, which will take runners through Hilton Head Plantation, ends up back at the Chart House. It’s estimated that the 5K race should be completed in an hour while the 10K race should take an hour and a half. Anyone who has not made it to the finish line in the time allotted will be taken back to the Chart House via vehicle.  Those going the fun walk route will have to wait until all the runners have left the parking lot before beginning the 2-mile loop through Squiregate.

There will be an awards ceremony once all participants have completed the two races. Victory medals will be given out to the top three male and female runners in each category. Everyone else will be presented with a participant medal. Following the ceremony, a party will take place in the Chart House parking lot, featuring yummy food, refreshing drinks, and danceable music. For runners and spectators, free parking can be found in a lot near Hudson Seafood Restaurant and the lots at Skull Creek Boathouse and Daufuskie Island Embarkation.
