Family Fun on Hilton Head Island!

When you find yourself on Hilton Head Island and you're looking for something unique to do, you may want to seriously consider stopping by the Coastal Discovery Museum. Spread out over 68 acres, this singular attraction delivers a great range of activities for lovers of the great outdoors. You can hike on the many scenic trails, commune with butterflies, and stroll through the fragrant gardens. You'll also have the option of eschewing the dry land for some water-based activities, such as the Dolphin and Nature Cruise, an entertaining and educational tour. A well-informed museum docent will regale you with compelling stories about the sea creatures that reside in Broad Creek's salt water channels. Find out all about bottlenose dolphins, river otters, blue crabs, eastern oysters, and plenty of birds covering a truckload of species.  This fascinating adventure is seasonal, taking place March through October on Wednesdays and Fridays at 3:00 p.m.

Along with the Dolphin and Nature Cruise, the Coastal Discovery Museum offers several other boat tours. The Waterway Excursion is a 2-hour trek around the Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge that features information about the island's history and the maritime forest. Fans of shellfish will be fans of the Shrimp Trawling Expedition. Running from Hilton Head Island's north end to Port Royal Sound, the tour will enlighten you about the ancient art of shrimp trawling along with all the different varieties of shrimp that are caught, some of which you'll be able to take home and consume.
