Divided into two distinct yet similar communities by the Coligny traffic circle and Coligny Plaza, North and South Forest Beach Drive are two of the original residential and commercial districts on the Island and to which vacationers and locals alike still converge. Lying at the end of Pope Avenue which leads directly to the beach on Hilton Head's south end, Forest Beach offers beachfront homes, villas, condominiums and hotels, popular shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities and the beautiful Coligny Beach Park. Extensive bike and walking paths, meandering picturesquely over bridges and through lush, shady foilage, make Forest Beach and the Coligny Plaza area a popular choice among vacationers. Many vacation properties in this area are close enough to walk to the beach and nearby attractions. In addition to the shops and restaurants, a grocery store, barbershop and hairdresser, bakery, miniature golf, water fun park, Van Der Meer Tennis, the Hilton Head Art League Academy, the Town of Hilton Head Compass Rose Park are all within walking or biking distance. Churches for most denominations are also located in the neighborhood. For your convenience, a seasonal complimentary shuttle (tips only) operates to take you where you need to go in the Forest Beach area. |
