For a cyclist, there are few places in the world like Hilton Head Island. What it lacks in hills, Hilton Head more than makes up for with 60 miles of wide, curving pathways that criss-cross the island, taking you past jaw-dropping scenery from the jeweled waters of our creeks to the tranquility of our lagoons.

This devotion to the sport of cycling, which led the Town of Hilton Head Island to build these paths, is also reflected in the town’s Island Ambassador program, which sends helpful locals out along the miles of pathways to offering directions and guidance to visiting bikers. You’ll also see this same support from our civic organizations, such as the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce’s Bike & Dine Week, as well as a healthy community of active locals who can be seen nearly every day cycling along our pathways.

This strong culture among locals, coupled with visible support from town leaders and our immaculate pathways, even earned Hilton Head Island gold status from The League of American Bicyclists as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Just 25 communities in the entire country can claim this status, placing Hilton Head Island in an elite group.

So when we say there are few places like Hilton Head Island for cyclists to enjoy, it’s not just a matter of opinion. This award-winning community is the perfect place for those who want to see the world at 14 miles an hour.
